I've countered this problem by disabling all notifications for Threads and most other Meta apps, but I understand that it's not ideal for everyone—especially if you don't want to miss DMs. You can turn off some types of junk notifications, such as posts "suggested" for you and follow suggestions, in Threads. Go to your profile on Threads, hit the two-line menu button in the top-right corner, and select Notifications. Go to From Threads and disable everything. Then head to Following and followers and disable account suggestions, and Pre-followed user joined Threads. You can also go to the Threads and replies settings page, and disable junk notifications such as Insights, Weekly insights, Views, First thread, and Updates from posts with links.
